Knitting book in the making
At the moment, I’m writing a knitting book with patterns inspired by “Jane Eyre”. Jane is the Heroine of Charlotte Brontë’s world famous novel “Jane Eyre”. It’s one of the great love stories, which has inspired many film adaptions. The story is about the poor governess Jane and Eduard Rochester and his wife, who’s hidden in the tower of the Manor house….
The designs are inspired by costumes of Jane and the other characters, but also by the Yorkshire landscape and famous quotes. The style is distinctively romantic and victorian, interpretated to modern day wear.
The design of this shawl is inspired by Jane’s gorgeous costume in mauve, mustard and cream lace. It features an Elaborate lace border. The body of the shawl is mostly knit in easy garter stich with a stripe in double moss stitch.
I created a modern sweater which takes ist inspiration from Jane’s dark blue dress. It’s knitted in a warm merino wool and features a whimsical bow to give it that extra romantic touch.
